By Grantham University
LENEXA, Kan. – January 17, 2017 This month, Grantham University celebrates 66 years of helping military service members, veterans and adult learners across the globe earn a college education through distance learning. Substantiating this deeply rooted experience within the military community are three 2017 accolades recently awarded to the university: Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs, ranking sixth on the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2017, and one of Military Advanced Education & Transition Magazine Top Schools.
Grantham’s commitment to “serving those who serve” extends beyond academia to service within the community. In 2016, Grantham University employees donated more than 18,600 items to numerous donation drives, devoted more than 550 volunteer community service hours to 25 organizations, and raised over $20,000 for local charity organizations. Also last year, the university launched new in-demand academic programs, received additional programmatic recognition from accrediting bodies, introduced comprehensive career services programs, and further elevated its engagement with the active military and veteran community.
“We are honored to be recognized for having impactful programs supporting veteran and military students across the country,” said Dr. Cheryl Hayek, Grantham University interim university president and provost. “Comprehensive, dedicated support is engrained in the culture of our university. We take great pride in giving each student the individualized help they need to achieve their goals, in giving back to the communities that surround us, and in continuing the rich history that began over 66 years ago.”
