Grantham University Named a Best For Vets College for 2015
By Grantham University
LENEXA, Kan.—Grantham University, an online university founded in 1961, was named a Best for Vets College for 2015 by Military Times EDGE publication.
The national ranking, now in its fifth year, factors in the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military students’ success rates. Best for Vets: Colleges 2015 is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that make an organization a good fit for service members, military veterans and their families.
Several hundred schools participated in this year’s survey, compiling a detailed questionnaire with more than 100 questions that delved into the issues most crucial to student military veterans. To determine which schools made the list, the ranking program compared schools’ survey responses as well as data collected by the U.S. Department of Education, including academic success measures.
“We are honored to be recognized for our ongoing work with veterans,” said Dr. Jeffrey Cropsey, vice president for strategic initiatives and external relations at Grantham University. “A part of Grantham’s mission is to make education accessible to all, but particularly to those who have served our nation, and their families. It’s important for military veterans who are choosing a university to focus on the overall support the college offers to military veterans and to select the right university and right degree program.”
The independent Best for Vets College for 2015 survey requires schools to meticulously document a tremendous array of services, special rules, accommodations and financial incentives offered to military and veteran students and to describe many aspects of support to veterans.
“By recognizing only the schools who do the most, we believe we’re helping to raise the bar in veteran student services," said Amanda Miller, editor of Best of Vets.
The rankings are published in full in the issues of Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times the week of Nov. 10; in the November issue of Military Times EDGE magazine; and on the publications’ websites.
