Grantham University Named Military Friendly for Tenth Consecutive Year
By Brandon Swenson
Lenexa, Kan. – February 20, 2019 – Grantham University, an online university with a 68-year history of educating the military, has been named Military Friendly for the tenth year in a row. This year, the university received the gold-level ranking on VIQTORY’s 2019/20 Military Friendly School list.
“We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to service members, veterans and their families,” said Anthony Petroy, D.M., Interim President and Provost for Grantham University. “Our university’s culture centers on doing everything we can, in terms of quality programs, low cost and support, to make education attainable while serving or already in transition to the civilian workforce. Even beyond the military community, Grantham’s flexibility and affordability helps any adult learner fit college education into their day.”
Grantham’s well-earned reputation within the military realm can be attributed to many factors. In addition to having a staff well-versed on the military culture, Grantham’s low tuition is reduced even further to a lean $250 per credit hour for military-affiliated students – a rate intentionally designed to fit within military education benefits, often resulting in no out-of-pocket education expenses. Free textbooks, military scholarships, generous transfer credit for military training and experience, and policies designed for deployed service members are just a few other ways the university shows its support.
As further testimony to Grantham’s commitment to the military community, the university was named a Purple Heart University last month. Grantham received the award at a highly attended veteran transition fair it co-hosted in Kansas City, Missouri.
“We truly are not only military-friendly, but military-centric,” said Petroy. “Grantham was founded with this purpose, and year after year, we continue to develop new ways to support the needs of veterans and active duty.”
One such innovation is Grantham’s Hiring Veterans is Good Business program, where corporations can learn the value of hiring veterans, and how to attract and retain them as employees. According to Petroy, “The program resonates with companies who realize the profound impact a military veteran can make in the civilian workplace. It’s been a wonderful success in helping connect companies with veterans.”
