Marks 3rd consecutive year University receives honor
Kansas City, Mo. – September 26, 2011 – Grantham University has been named a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs for the third consecutive year.
The 2012 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to embrace military education and America’s military service members and veterans as students.
“Grantham University is honored to be included in this list of outstanding schools,” said Dr. Fred Snow, Grantham’s president. “Grantham was founded by a World War II veteran to help prepare veterans for new jobs and a better future upon their return to civilian life. We proudly continue that 60-year tradition with our numerous programs and scholarships specifically directed at members of the military.”
The 1,518 colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list are making the grade by offering military scholarships and discounts, veterans’ clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who served. The 2012 list of Military Friendly Schools ® was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 8,000 schools nationwide. For the first time ever, G.I. Jobs incorporated a survey of student veterans.
Grantham University’s student veterans gave the University an overall rating of 3.76 out of 4. Students were surveyed in the following areas: veteran services, school resources, faculty, environment and career services.
“A part of our mission is to make education accessible to all, but particularly to those who have served our nation,” said Snow. “Lists such as these help build awareness and provide service members and veterans with valuable information so they can easily find a university that meets their unique needs.”
