Grantham University’s Military Initiatives Honored For Being “Better for Veterans”
Lenexa, Kan. – December 9, 2016 – For the eighth year in a row, Grantham University, a 65-year-old institution delivering accredited online degree programs to adult learners, veterans and active duty military students around the world, has been named a Military Friendly School® by G.I. Jobs. A new level of awards was introduced this year by G.I. Jobs for schools that excelled beyond the set benchmarks. Grantham University received a Silver Level Award.
For more than a decade, Military Friendly® ratings have set the standard for colleges demonstrating positive education outcomes for veterans and their families.
The Military Friendly® Awards showcase 1,200 post-secondary schools that were designated as “Military Friendly®” in November. Of those designated, 541 schools were recognized for excellence in different categories, highlighting not only “Are you Military Friendly®?” but “How Military Friendly® are you?”
Grantham University competed for the elite Military Friendly® School title by completing a survey covering six categories. Survey responses were scored against benchmarks across these key indicators of success. The methodology used for determining the Military Friendly® Schools list has changed the student veteran landscape to one much more transparent, and has played a significant role over the past eight years in capturing and advancing best practices to support military students across the country.
“We are honored to be recognized for having powerful and impactful programs supporting veteran and military students,” said Dr. Cheryl Hayek, Interim University President and Provost at Grantham University. “It is a part of the culture of our university. We take pride in educating our nation’s military service members, and continuing the rich history that was started over 65 years ago when Grantham University was founded.”
The names of awardees are published online at https://militaryfriendly.com and will be printed in the December issue of G.I. Jobs® or Guide to Military Friendly® Schools.
