LENEXA, Kan. – March 14, 2015 – Each year the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS), presents The Legion de Lafayette award to donors of the National Guard Educational Foundation.
On March 14, in Washington, D.C. at NGAUS, Dr. Jeffrey Cropsey, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, accepted the Legion de Lafayette award on behalf of Grantham University. This is the third year the university has been recognized for their generous support.
The National Guard Educational Foundation’s (NGEF) goal is to tell the Guard’s story. Independent of the National Guard Association of the United States, but co-located in the National Guard Memorial Building in Washington, D.C., NGEF relies solely on charitable contributions to carry out its mission. The purpose of NGEF is to achieve an awareness of the rich heritage and continuing contributions of the National Guard of the United States through a rich programmatic portfolio.
Named after the Marquis de Lafayette, who visited New York’s Seventh Regiment in 1824 and, inspired by his own Guard Nationale de Paris in France, gave the National Guard its enduring name, the Legion de Lafayette was established in 1987 to recognize patrons who significantly advance NGEF’s work.
Grantham University is a proud supporter of the NGEF’s mission and over 300 corporate, state and individual Legion de Lafayette members.
