Dr. Jeff Cropsey Receives CCME President’s Award

Kansas City, Mo. – March 03, 2010 – Grantham University, an online university dedicated to providing educational opportunities to working adults for over 60 years, announced today that Dr. Jeffrey Cropsey, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, received the Council of College and Military Educators' President's Award. Each year, this award is presented to the nominee who has made a significant contribution in advancing the cause of military education.
Dr. Cropsey was selected by the President of CCME to receive the award, which was presented on February 18 at CCME's 2010 Symposium in Nashville, Tennessee.
"Many great leaders in military education have received this award in the past, and I am most honored, humbled and thankful to be included in their numbers," said Dr. Cropsey. "I look forward to continuing my service to the military as a proud member of the Grantham University team, which provides high quality education and student services to our warriors and their families around the world."
Previous President's Award recipients include, Gary Woods, Director of Educational Opportunities in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness; Jim Selbe, Assistant Vice President of Life Long Learning for the American Council on Education; and James Wright, President Emeritus of Dartmouth College.
Prior to joining Grantham, Dr. Cropsey served as the Director of the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), located in Pensacola, FL. DANTES oversees post-secondary education programs and support for all components of the Department of Defense, the National Guard, and Coast Guard.
Dr. Cropsey, a native of New York, received his Doctor of Education from the University of Southern California. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps, and as a Counselor, Education Services Officer and Major Command Staff Officer with the U.S. Air Force Education Services Program. Prior to joining the staff at DANTES, he was the Director of the Education Services and Training Program of the U.S. Air Force in Europe and the Director of the Voluntary Education Department of the U.S. Navy, Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center where he oversaw the management and execution of the Voluntary Education Program Navy-wide.
Throughout his four decades of service, Dr. Cropsey has received five meritorious service awards, including the Air Force Civilian Meritorious Civilian Service Award, three Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Awards and the Department of Defense Civilian Meritorious Service Award.
CCME, a not-for-profit organization, was founded 36 years ago to promote, encourage, and deliver quality education to service members and their families in all branches of the armed services. Its membership is composed of military and civilian educators, post-secondary educational institutions, and suppliers of quality education products and services.
